Having been raised in Western Europe, I should be used to the rain, but living in Southern California for the past 3 decades has softened me.
We are experiencing some wet weather which in itself is unusual, as we are situated on the "edge" of the Mojave Desert, we rarely meet the target of our average rainfall season, and for most of the past 30 yrs we have been living in something of a drought situation.
I love the rain, warm ( as is the case now, the rain is coming up from Baja California, Mexico) or a good chilly, thundery, cold snap.
Here day to day life almost stops!
The sidewalks are empty, no one leaves home to go to open markets.
And a lot of people drive much faster to avoid getting their cars wet! ( traffic accidents increase 300% in rain!).
The folks who do own an umbrella usually use them as a sun shade, it is a rare thing to see umbrella's here in the rain.
The local high mountains are getting snow...more later this weekend. Enjoy the photo's of the City of Angels
But the wild birds ( who are usually left to bathe in dust) love it as do all the flowers and plants.
A great day to make soup or a good dessert..not a good day for bread making as it is damp, but def. a good day to potter in the kitchen.
