DOUBLE DIPPER; CANDY BAR TREASURES; CHOCO-NUTTY BARS; Making cookies FROM all that Halloween candy
Here's some great and easy recipes for making great cookies from all the Candy that the Trick and Treater's will be dragging home on Thursday Night...also great cookies any week, (they all contain sweetened condensed milk, and low fat or even non-fat varieties will work) just using Halloween as an excuse to feature these......
DOUBLE DIPPER COOKIES
1 stick butter (4ozs)
2 cups cookie crumbs ( just place any plain cookie in a plastic bag and hit with a rolling pin)
1 can condensed milk (14ozs)
2 cup chopped chocolate candy bars
1 cup flaked coconut (optional)
Preheat oven 350F (325F for a glass dish)
in a 13x 9 x 2inch ovenproof dish melt the butter in the oven.
remove and sprinkle the cookie crumbs over the butter.
Pour the condensed milk over the cookie crumbs and top with the chopped candy bars.
Top this with the coconut.
Press down firmly ( be careful as the dish is hot) .
bake middle oven 25-30 mins. or until lightly browned.
remove and cool in dish.
Cut into bars and store in airtight container
CANDY BAR TREASURES
PREHEAT OVEN 350F
1cup chopped chocolate candy bars
1/2 stick butter ( 1/4 cup)
melt together very gently in a heavy bottomed saucepan.
Add 1 can (14ozs) condensed milk
remove from heat.
Add 12 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg beaten
Stir in:
2 cups flour (whole wheat is fine)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup chopped roasted nuts
1 cup chopped chocolate candy bars
Spoon the mix into a greased 13x9x2inch ovenproof dish
BAKE 20-25 MINS.
Remove from oven and cool in the dish on a wire rack.
Cut and store in airtight container..if you can.
CHOCO-NUTTY BARS
preheat oven 350F
in a large bowl combine:
2 cups whole wheat flour
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter
Cut into "crumbs" and press into a greased 13 x 9x 2inch ovenproof baking dish .
bake 20 mins until lightly browned.
remove from oven.....
In a heavy bottomed saucepan,
heat 1 can ( 14ozs) sweetened condensed milk
2 cups chopped chocolate candy bars
Mix well to combine..the chocolate bars should melt.
remove from heat and add
2 cups chopped roasted unsalted nuts
1 large egg beaten
1/2 tsp almond extract ( or coconut or vanilla)
1/2 tsp salt
Spread over baked crust and bake 25 mins or until set.
Remove from oven , cool on a wire rack in the dish and cut while still warm.
Dust with unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
Store in an air tight container..again if there are any left
MAKE THESE YOUR OWN IN WHATEVER COUNTRY YOU LIVE..DON'T JUST USE THEM FOR HALLOWEEN..BE CREATIVE AND USE THEM ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.....
