REAL CHOCOLATE, ALL-BUTTER SHORTBREAD: RECIPE ..very decadent
Not sure if you want to Treat the hob goblins or Trick Santa's reindeer's..these are fabulous and if you want to 'go over the top" you could dip the baked squares in more melted semi sweet chocolate.
Real Chocolate, all butter Shortbread
Makes 12 - 24 squares depending on taste testers
Preheat oven 350F
4 ozs semi sweet chocolate..melted and cooled slightly
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour ( if using wholewheat use 1 1/4 cups only)
In a large bowl, beat the butter until light and fluffy.
Add the brown sugar and beat until dissolved and light and fluffy.
reduce speed to low and drizzle in the melted chocolate, and mix well, gradually beat in the flour.
Once everything is incorporated, spread the dough evenly in 2 ungreased 8x8x2inch pans.
Bake in middle oven 20 - 25 mins until wooden toothpick comes out clean.
Remove from oven and leave in pan for 10 mins
Then cut into squares and cool in pans.
These can be dusted in unsweetened cocoa powder, when serving.
