THESE ARE FOR A SPECIAL ORDER FOR A HALLOWEEN THEMED PARTY..you can make these for any party or just to "spoil' yourself.
The recipe is a combination of 2 I have already posted, part of the triple threat brownies and a variation of Jaz's all butter cake..topped off with marshmallows and cooked for another 10 mins to melt..makes a gooey sweet topping to a not so sweet cake with a cookie base of rolled oats and butter
this recipe make one 8 x 8 inch cake
Preheat oven 350F
butter a 8x8 pan
in a medium bowl mix together
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda
6 tbsp melted butter
mix well and then press into the bottom of the pan
Bake in middle oven for 10 mins..then remove and cool
Chocolate cake
4 tbsp softened butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
Cream together until light and fluffy
beat in one whole egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/4 tsp salt.
Blend in
2 cups all purpose flour + 2 tsp baking powder+ 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder(Blended together)
alternatively with 3/4 cup milk.
Add 1 cup chopped prunes or raisins stir well to mix in.
Pour over the partially baked oat base and bake middle oven for 35 mins
Test that the top is firm, and top with marshmallows ( optional)
bake further 10 mins..remove from oven and cool on a wire rack..after 20mins cut into bars while it is still warm..allow it to cool completely before serving
Variations :
mocha cake..add 2 tsp espresso instant powder,add dried cranberries or even nuts in place of fruit.
For more adult variations add liqueur when cool
Top with "creepy crawlies" before serving (optional)..alert diners they are not edible.
