EAT MORE CHOCOLATE IT'S GOOD FOR YOU..recipes

Good Dark (min 70-80% Cocoa) Chocolate that is.

Recent test have shown that Cocoa Flavanols  help improve memory, lower blood pressure, and make insulin work more efficiently in older people.

The best source is NOT bars of chocolate,  recommended source is CocoaVia (which is lower lead and cadmium than other powders).

OR you can start now by eating more dark Chocolate, here is a basic recipe where you may add whatever you like, just make sure the amounts are the same or as near too.

CHOCOLATE, FRUIT AND NUT NIBBLES..APPROX 140 CALORIES PER INCH

These are great as a treat or for hiking....  They are unfortunately NOT a food group

12 ozs GOOD dark chocolate, chopped  (don't use cooking chocolate)

2 cups roasted unsalted nuts (your choice)

3 cups  pitted dried fruit chopped small (your choice and best way to chop is to use scissors, no need to chop raisins)

Method:

Bring a small pan of water to boil.

Put the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
Remove the pan of boiling water and place the pot of chocolate over the boiled water, and allow the chocolate to melt.  (don't microwave the chocolate).

Mix the nuts and fruit well into the chocolate.
Pour onto a wax paper/parchment lined 10 x 9 dish/cookie sheet/roasting pan, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds or shredded unsweetened dried coconut ( plain or toasted) and allow to set  at room temp.

When set, remove the wax paper and cut chocolate into 1 inch squares.

Store in airtight container.
