The best variety of California Grown Nectarines 2014

This year has been a bumper year for the sweetest and juiciest nectarines locally grown, and these are  THE best variety.
They are not the prettiest to look at but they are the best for flavor.
Look for them in your stores/markets
Their skin is thicker/tougher than standard fruit, and maybe it is because they are grown in hotter, drier climes (we are in the middle of a horrendous drought  right now).
They have dark red skins, and sometimes may look wrinkly, they are even better for sweetness!
These are sweet and almost crispy, and if left for a few days in a fruit bowl will become, deliciously tender and very very juicy.
They  are also A FREESTONE VARIETY, once halved the 2 halves will split apart with a twist revealing the pit.
I have sprinkled with sugar a few for open face freezing, for use in pies later in year, for summer eating fun they cannot be beat.

Please do not store in a fridge as this will make them mealy/spoil them completely.

Happy Summer eating from Sunny SoCal
