CINDER TOFFEE 250YR OLD RECIPE




This is a very old recipe for a very old candy and must be made by adults as the syrup is hot enough to burn flesh.
This makes a honeycomb hard candy.

1 pound/2 cups packed  cane sugar
1 cup water

Mix well together in a a heavy bottomed pan and bring to a high boil.
Have a  VERY DEEP BOWL of very cold, CLEAN water handy.

Boil for 20-25 mins.
the add 1 tsp baking soda and CAREFULLY remove from heat immediately..the syrup will boil over like milk boiling over.
Pour the hot toffee INTO the bowl of cold water..this will crack and set up immediately.
When cold remove from water, drain on cloth towels and pack into a dish or airtight container.
Make a lot of very crunchy toffee

Again only make when sober and awake..this is not recommended for midnight munchies...lol
